Prime Minister Kristersson stated that Russia continues to expose allies to cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and direct sabotage, adding: “The recent events in Germany are the latest example of this. The ultimate goal is to create division and fear and to make us reduce our support for Ukraine.”

Kristersson said that Swedish democracy is extremely well prepared ahead of the 2026 elections, noting that numerous measures to protect the elections have been taken by the government and relevant institutions and are already being implemented.

Kristersson added: “In February, we will bring together eight party leaders along with the heads of all national institutions to assess and share information on the efforts being carried out to prevent foreign powers from improperly influencing Sweden’s elections.”
