Radman said, “Today we mark the European Day of Remembrance for the victims of all totalitarian and authoritarian regimes, including communism, Nazism and fascism.”

Stating that the commemoration day is dedicated to the innocent victims of totalitarian ideologies that caused immense suffering in the 20th century, Radman noted that yesterday’s final farewell in Donji Macelj to 500 identified Croatian victims was a powerful reminder of this responsibility.

Radman said, “The dignified burial of the 500 exhumed victims is, in addition to showing respect for the victims and their families, a debt we owe to truth and historical memory.”

Addressing future generations in his message, Radman said, “May their suffering serve as a lasting warning to future generations and as an encouragement for us to build a society based on democracy, freedom, the rule of law and respect for the dignity of every human being.”
