President Macron: We are building a stronger and more sovereign Europe
Davos, January 22 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron said, in a statement marking Franco-German Friendship Day, that coordination between the two countries is important for the future of the European Union.
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the preparations ahead of the European Council within the framework of Franco-German Friendship Day.
Highlighting the importance of relations with Germany before the summit bringing together the 27 European Union member states, Macron said: “We are meeting again on Franco-German Friendship Day! Before coming together at the European Council as a group of 27 countries, this is an important moment of coordination between Germany and France.”
Referring to the Élysée Treaty, which forms the basis of the historic cooperation between the two countries, Macron added: “Sixty-three years after the signing of the Élysée Treaty, together we are building a stronger, more united and more sovereign Europe.”
