IDF: Underground Hezbollah facilities targeted in Lebanon
Jerusalem, May 23 (Hibya)- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that airstrikes were carried out against underground weapons production facilities and infrastructure allegedly belonging to Hezbollah in Lebanon’s Bekaa and Tyre regions.
The IDF announced that overnight airstrikes were carried out against targets said to belong to Hezbollah in the Bekaa region in eastern Lebanon and the southern city of Tyre.
According to the IDF statement, the underground facility in the Bekaa region was allegedly used by the organization for weapons production, and those weapons were planned to be used in attacks against Israel.
The statement also claimed that certain infrastructure sites in the Tyre region were targeted, alleging that these locations were used by Hezbollah members to plan attacks against Israeli forces.
The Israeli military stated that warnings had been issued prior to the strikes in order to reduce civilian casualties, and that precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance were used.
The IDF said that the operations are continuing against threats to Israel and in accordance with instructions from political authorities.
