Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said comprehensive talks were held with Canada during his bilateral visit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Zelenski said Ukraine and Canada have strong relations and thanked Canada for the aid packages it has provided throughout the war.

Emphasizing that Ukraine must be strong in order to achieve peace, Zelenski said his country needs a “strong and lasting peace”. He added that he was pleased to have strong friends such as Canada during this process.

Zelenski said the talks addressed a winter support package and energy issues, announcing that a decision had been made on a significant Canadian aid package for air defense.

Pointing to a serious global shortage of air defense systems and missiles, Zelenski thanked Canada for the support.

Zelenski said he was happy to be among friends in Canada, adding: “Thank you for your support for Ukraine, Ukrainians, our children, our sovereignty and our territorial integrity.”
