Von der Leyen: EU support for resolving the Cyprus issue will continue
Brussels, July 20 (Hibya) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the European Union will continue to support efforts under the United Nations framework to resolve the Cyprus issue.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that she met with Maria Angela Holguin, the United Nations Secretary-General's Personal Envoy on Cyprus.
Von der Leyen said she welcomed Holguin's efforts to advance a solution to the Cyprus issue within the United Nations framework and in line with the principles, values, and legislation of the European Union.
The statement said that the European Commission would continue to support the settlement process with all the means and instruments at its disposal. It also noted that Raffaele Fitto, appointed as the European Union's Special Representative for Cyprus, continues his contacts with all parties involved in the process.
