UN Secretary-General condemns mosque attack in Islamabad
New York, February 6 (Hibya) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres strongly condemned the attack targeting worshippers at a mosque in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, and reiterated his solidarity with the Pakistani people.
UN Secretary-General Guterres stated that he “strongly condemns” the attack targeting worshippers at a mosque in the city of Islamabad, Pakistan. In a statement issued by UN Spokesperson Farhan Haq, it was emphasized that attacks against civilians and places of worship are unacceptable.
The Secretary-General noted that those responsible must be identified and brought to justice. He also conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Guterres reiterated that the United Nations stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
