Fletcher thanked civil society organizations in Afghanistan, Sudan, Lebanon, Burkina Faso, Venezuela, Ukraine, and Nigeria, saying, “Our partners have raised the level of ambition and held us accountable for delivering on our commitments.”
Fletcher’s remarks point to the need to make the humanitarian system more effective and to increase direct cooperation with local actors. The UN official also called for strengthening international cooperation and supporting the role of civil society organizations worldwide.
