Tsahkna: Diplomatic threats would constitute a violation of international law
Tallinn, May 8 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna described Russia’s threats against Kyiv as “a sneaky escalation tactic” and stated that Estonia would continue its diplomatic activities in Ukraine.
Tsahkna made a statement regarding Russia’s threats against Kyiv and its use of diplomatic channels as a means of pressure.
Tsahkna argued that Russia has not complied with any ceasefire, including those it proposed itself, and said that the threats against Kyiv are “a sneaky method of escalating tensions.”
The Estonian minister stated that threats against civilian and diplomatic infrastructure would amount to a serious violation of international law.
Estonia and its diplomats would not be intimidated by threats, Tsahkna said, adding that the Estonian Embassy in Kyiv continues its operations in line with local security guidance.
Tsahkna also emphasized that Ukraine has the full right to legitimate self-defense.
