Stubb calls for diplomacy over Iran and Gulf tensions
Helsinki, May 8 (Hibya) - Finnish President Alexander Stubb called for an end to Iran’s attacks on regional countries and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz during his meeting with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohammed bin Zayed.
Finnish President Stubb made a statement regarding his phone conversation with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Stubb emphasized the importance of friendship and dialogue between countries during the ongoing global transformation process and stated that developments regarding Iran and the Gulf region were discussed.
During the meeting, it was stressed that Iran’s attacks on neighboring countries must come to a permanent end, while a call was made for the strategically important Strait of Hormuz to be reopened without any restrictions.
Stubb also stated that diplomacy is the only sustainable path for resolving regional crises.
