Sybiha meets with Latvian counterpart Braze
Kyiv, May 8 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the investigation into drone incidents involving Latvia is ongoing, emphasizing that Ukraine did not intentionally direct any unmanned aerial vehicles toward Latvia.
Sybiha announced that he discussed the recent drone incidents with his Latvian counterpart Baiba Braze.
Sybiha stated that Ukrainian and Latvian authorities are in close contact and sharing information to determine the cause of the incidents. The Ukrainian minister said that if it is confirmed that the incidents were caused by Russian electronic warfare systems diverting Ukrainian drones off course toward Latvia, they would offer their sincerest apologies to Latvia.
Sybiha said, “What we can say with certainty is that Ukraine did not direct any drone toward Latvia.”
Recalling that Ukraine had previously sent apologies to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland over similar incidents, Sybiha noted that expert institutions are working jointly to prevent the recurrence of such events.
Sybiha also announced that, following instructions from Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the possibility of sending Ukrainian expert teams to strengthen the airspace security of friendly countries is being considered.
