Sandu: Moldova rises to 31st place in press freedom index
Chisinau, April 30 (Hibya) - Moldovan President Maia Sandu stated that her country has risen to 31st place in the 2026 Press Freedom Index, describing this result as a positive development.
Maia Sandu made a statement regarding the results of the 2026 Press Freedom Index prepared by Reporters Without Borders.
Sandu noted that Moldova climbed to 31st place in the index, gaining 4 positions, and that this result is among the highest scores among European Union candidate countries.
The statement indicated that Moldova is the only country in Eastern Europe with a “satisfactory” level.
Sandu emphasized that despite the progress achieved, efforts must continue, adding that the country is moving in the right direction.
