Saar: We regret the negative sentiments that have emerged in Argentina
Jerusalem, Dec. 26 (Hibya) – Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said they regret the discomfort caused in Argentina by activities that Navitas Petroleum plans to carry out in an area of the South Atlantic Ocean whose sovereignty is disputed between Argentina and the United Kingdom.
Foreign Minister Saar made the statement following the announcement that Navitas Petroleum Development and Production, the UK-based subsidiary of Israeli partner Navitas Petroleum, will operate in an area of the South Atlantic Ocean whose sovereignty is contested between Argentina and the United Kingdom.
Noting that Israel has special relations with Argentina under President Javier Milei and that these ties are of great value to the Israeli public, Saar said: “Therefore, although the activity in question is a private company initiative in which the Israeli government is not involved in any way, we regret the negative sentiments that have emerged in Argentina in this context.”
Saar emphasized that Israel hopes the sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom will be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means.
