Qatar provides $20 million in support to UNRWA
Doha, September 29 (Hibya) - The Qatar Fund for Development signed a $20 million agreement to support the resources of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) for the 2025-2026 period.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country would continue its support for UNRWA.
The statement said a $20 million agreement was signed between the Qatar Fund for Development and UNRWA to support the agency’s resources for the 2025-2026 period. The support will be provided at $10 million per year.
Qatar reportedly provided UNRWA with $18 million during the 2023-2024 period and an exceptional $20 million in support in 2024. The statement also said that during 2021-2022, $18 million was provided for core resources and $7 million was allocated for Palestinian refugees in Syria in the areas of health, education and economic development.
