Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva made statements on university education and the ProUni program.

Lula said, “This is the impact of ProUni: when we open the university door to a worker’s child, we also open the door to a world of opportunities.”

Saying that ProUni has helped transform the lives of millions of Brazilians, Lula stated, “There are people who are the first in their families to reach higher education and who today are fulfilling dreams that once seemed impossible.”

Lula emphasized that education should not be seen as an expense, saying, “Education is not an expense. It is an investment in our people and in Brazil’s future. We still have many more stories to transform.”
