Qatar condemns attack on Kuwait Consulate General in Basra
Doha, April 8 (Hibya) – Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it strongly condemns the attack on the Consulate General of Kuwait in Basra, Iraq, and the violation of the inviolability of diplomatic missions.
In its statement, the ministry emphasized that attacks targeting the security of diplomatic missions are contrary to international law.
The statement said: "The State of Qatar strongly condemns and denounces the attack on the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Basra in the brotherly Republic of Iraq and the violation of the sanctity of diplomatic missions."
It further noted that "targeting diplomatic missions constitutes a clear violation of international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The inviolability of diplomatic missions must be respected, and full protection must be provided to them and their personnel."
The statement also stressed that Qatar stands alongside neighboring Kuwait, stating:
"The Ministry reaffirms the full solidarity of the State of Qatar with the brotherly State of Kuwait and emphasizes the importance of taking the necessary measures to ensure the security and safety of diplomatic missions and to prevent the recurrence of such incidents."
