According to a statement from the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and Industry, Minister of Economy, Investment and Industry Alexander Pulev officially took over the position from Irina Shtonova during a ceremony held at the ministry today.

Pulev stated that among his main priorities are doubling the sanctions imposed by the Consumer Protection Commission, strengthening the powers of the Competition Protection Commission, and increasing transparency and traceability in supply chains.

Announcing a structural reform in investment policy that includes merging key institutions under the umbrella of the Ministry of Economy, Investment and Industry, Pulev emphasized that they aim to create a unified, coordinated, and effective investment support system together with the Bulgarian Investment Agency, the Bulgarian Development Bank, and the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (BSMEPA), along with a number of related directorates.

Pulev said, “This is a key step toward creating a single, fast, and effective system for coordinating strategic investments, which will ensure predictability and acceleration of processes.”
