European Parliament (EP) President Roberta Metsola commented on the accident that occurred in the Belgian city of Buggenhout as a result of a collision between a train and a school bus.

Expressing the deep sorrow caused by the tragedy, Metsola said, “The pain and sorrow experienced today are immense. On a day that should have been an ordinary morning, it is unbearable even to imagine the pain caused by the tragic collision between a train and a school bus in Buggenhout.”

Emphasizing that Europe stands united with the Belgian people and shares their grief, President Metsola stated, “Today Europe mourns together with the families of the victims and everyone affected and injured by this terrible day. Europe mourns with you.”
