French President Emmanuel Macron made a statement on the Pope’s visit to France.

Macron said the Pope had not merely traveled across France but had encountered it, stating: “You did not simply travel across France, you encountered it. A diverse and fraternal France, attached to the values of liberty, equality and fraternity, and always open to dialogue.”

Macron said the Pope’s words and gestures, along with the crowds that gathered during the visit, gave it a special significance, adding: “Your words, your gestures and the crowds that gathered gave this visit a very special resonance for France and for all of Europe.”

Thanking the Pope, Macron said: “France salutes you with gratitude and will carry within it for a long time the echo of this hope that you came to share. Thank you for these days spent among the French people.”
