Leyen: We share the same view with the US that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons
Brussels, May 7 (Hibya) - President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced that developments in the Middle East, Iran’s nuclear program, and the EU-US trade agreement were discussed during her meeting with US President Donald Trump.
President of the European Commission (EU) Ursula von der Leyen made a statement regarding her phone call with US President Donald Trump.
Von der Leyen stated that developments in the Middle East and coordination with regional partners were discussed during the meeting.
Expressing that they share the same view with the United States that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons, von der Leyen said that recent developments revealed the scale of risks to regional stability and global security.
Von der Leyen also noted that the trade agreement between the European Union and the United States was discussed during the meeting and that the parties remain committed to implementing the agreement.
Von der Leyen stated that efforts to reduce customs tariffs had made progress by the beginning of July.
