Kos: Preparations for new members in the enlargement process are accelerating
Brussels, September 4 (Hibya) – European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Marta Kos commented on the European Union’s enlargement process, saying preparations for new members to join the Union are being accelerated.
Kos said, “The autumn of enlargement is coming. 2026 is already a record year in terms of progress. We plan to achieve even more.”
Noting that discussions on how best to prepare the Union to welcome new members have intensified, Kos said an enlarged Europe must be stronger in protecting its democratic values and safeguarding its interests globally.
Kos said, “An enlarged Europe must be stronger to defend our democratic values within our borders and safeguard our interests globally.”
