According to Al Jazeera, the Iranian army announced that US forces targeted an Iranian oil tanker in Iranian coastal waters and a second vessel near the port of Fujairah.
The Iranian side also reported that US airstrikes hit civilian areas in the southern regions of Bandar Khamir, Sirik and Qeshm Island.
The statement also noted that Iran's air defense systems were activated in the skies over western Tehran.
