Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar issued a statement regarding the change of assignment at Pakistan’s Embassy in China. Dar said Pakistan’s Ambassador in Beijing Khalil Hashmi, who successfully completed his tenure, will join the Foreign Ministry next week.

Noting Hashmi’s significant contributions to the further development of Pakistan-China relations, Dar said: “He made an important contribution to further advancing the close and enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.”

Dar announced that Ali Asad Gilani will serve as Pakistan’s new Ambassador to China in place of Hashmi. Noting that Gilani has held important positions at the Foreign Ministry, Dar expressed confidence that the new ambassador “will further advance the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” and continue the work of previous ambassadors.
