Carney signals investment in sports
Ottawa, August 8 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney highlighted the achievements of Canadian sports in 2026 and announced that investments in the next generation of athletes would be increased.
Carney noted that 36 medals were won in Milan and Cortina and 62 in Glasgow, while Canada also had a historic year at the FIFA World Cup, saying, “Team Canada made 2026 an unforgettable year.”
Carney said they would invest in sports following these achievements, adding, “Building on this success, we are investing in sports and supporting the next generation of Canadian athletes, from the playing field to the podium.”
