Carney: On Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day, we commemorate civilians
Ottawa, May 18 (Hibya)- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney published a message on the occasion of Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day.
In his message, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney commemorated the civilian citizens who lost their lives during the Sri Lankan Civil War.
Carney also stated that they stand with all communities that suffered deeply and survived during this period.
Referring to the importance of the day and the tragedy experienced, Carney said, “On Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day, we commemorate the tens of thousands of civilians killed during the Sri Lankan Civil War.”
Drawing attention to the Tamil community in Canada as well, Prime Minister Carney concluded his message by saying, “We stand with the survivors, families, and communities who suffered deeply, including many members of the Tamil diaspora in Canada.”
