Barrack: Trump and the United States stand with the Syrian people
Ankara, April 24 (Hibya) - U.S. Ambassador to Ankara and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack stated that they welcome the announcement by the Syrian Ministry of Interior regarding the arrest of Amjad Yousef.
U.S. Ambassador to Ankara and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack described the capture of Amjad Yousef, known as the “Butcher of Tadamon,” as a development toward the establishment of justice.
Barrack said, “We welcome today’s announcement from the Syrian Ministry of Interior regarding the arrest of Amjad Yousef, the notorious ‘Butcher of Tadamon’ responsible for horrific atrocities against Syrian civilians.”
Referring to the concept of justice in the new era in Syria, Barrack noted, “This is a strong step from impunity toward accountability and exemplifies the new paradigm of justice emerging in post-Assad Syria: one based on the rule of law, national reconciliation, and the equal application of justice regardless of past affiliations.”
Regarding U.S. support for the Syrian people, Barrack stated, “Trump and the United States stand with the Syrian people in supporting real justice and a new rule of law to help heal this wounded nation.”
