Zelensky announced that he held comprehensive talks with European and allied leaders within the “Washington Format” as part of the European Political Community Summit.

Zelensky stated that the talks addressed strengthening Europe’s defense capacity, the production of missiles and critical defense systems, support for the PURL program and increasing Europe’s own air defense and anti-ballistic capabilities.

Among the leaders who participated in the meetings were Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Giorgia Meloni, Donald Tusk, Mark Carney, Antonio Costa, Ursula von der Leyen and Mark Rutte.

Zelensky said Canada announced an additional $200 million in support as part of its new contribution to the PURL program, noting that this support is important for Ukraine. He also said NATO Secretary General Rutte confirmed that the supply of anti-ballistic missiles continues under previous agreements.

The meetings also addressed the situation on the front in Ukraine, the current state of peace negotiations and diplomatic contacts with the United States. Zelensky drew attention to the importance of shared assessments that Ukraine’s position on the ground has strengthened.

The protection of energy infrastructure was also on the agenda, while it was stated that Ukraine thanked Europe for its 90-billion-euro support package and that the rapid implementation of resilience plans for winter preparations is important.
