European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that Arctic security remains one of the European Union’s fundamental priorities and that cooperation with allies and partners in this area is being pursued.
Emphasizing that territorial integrity and sovereignty are fundamental principles of international law, von der Leyen said:
“These principles are of vital importance not only for the European Union, but for all countries around the world. We stand in full solidarity with the people of Denmark and Greenland.”
