UN: Humanitarian workers in Sudan must not be hindered
New York, November 3 (Hibya) – The United Nations (UN) has called for unhindered access for humanitarian workers providing assistance to millions of people in Sudan living under violence, hunger, and dire humanitarian conditions.
In a statement posted on the social media account of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), it was emphasized that humanitarian workers are a "vital lifeline" for millions of people.
The statement read: “They must be allowed to reach those in need. Civilians must never be targeted, and aid convoys must not be obstructed. International law must be respected under all circumstances.”
The UN highlighted that the severe humanitarian impact of the conflict in Sudan on civilians continues to worsen and reiterated its call on all parties to adhere to international humanitarian law.
