Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

Zelensky stated that they agreed to work together to bring more security and development opportunities to societies, noting that they discussed the situation in the region and possibilities for improving it.

Zelensky added that they also addressed the conditions of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine and expressed gratitude for the support, saying:

"We also touched upon Ukraine’s role as a reliable supplier of food products and discussed joint opportunities to strengthen food security across the region. We fully understand the energy and infrastructure challenges currently faced by Syria. We are ready to work together to expand opportunities for both our countries and our peoples."
