Trump: Australia is making a mistake by sending back Iran’s Women's National Football Team
Washington, March 9 (Hibya) - U.S. President Donald Trump said that returning Iran’s Women’s National Football Team currently in Australia to their country poses a vital risk and stated that the United States will accept the athletes if Australia does not grant them asylum.
U.S. President Donald Trump made a statement regarding the situation of the players of Iran’s Women’s National Football Team, who may be sent back to Iran after participating in a tournament in Australia.
Drawing attention to the consequences of the deportation decision, Trump said: "Australia is making a terrible humanitarian mistake by allowing Iran’s Women’s National Football Team to be sent back to Iran; they will probably be killed there."
Addressing the Australian Prime Minister directly, Trump said: "Do not do this, Mr. Prime Minister, grant them asylum. If you do not, the United States will take them. Thank you for your attention to this matter."
