Technology stocks decline on US stock markets
Istanbul, October 9 (Hibya) – Selling pressure on technology stocks dragged major US market indices lower, while Latin American markets recorded gains.
US stock markets ended the trading day in negative territory, led by declines in technology sector shares. The technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 index fell 1.39% to 30,725.81 points, while the S&P 500 index lost 0.47% and closed at 7,765.36 points.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average resisted the technology-sector sell-off, rising 0.10% to 51,231.64 points. Meanwhile, optimism prevailed in South American markets; Brazil's Bovespa index gained 0.94% to reach 206,220 points, while Mexico's S&P/BMV IPC index ended the day up 0.52%.
