Tajani: Spanish government’s reaction is misplaced and unnecessarily aggressive
Rome, September 15 (Hibya) - Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani criticized the Spanish government’s reaction to Italy’s decision to continue the suspension of the Schengen rules.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Italy is applying European Union rules and agreements in order to protect border security and the safety of its citizens.
Tajani said the Spanish government’s reaction to Italy’s decision to continue the suspension of the Schengen rules was inappropriate, stating: “The Spanish government’s reaction appears misplaced, inappropriate and unnecessarily aggressive.”
Tajani emphasized that Italy applies European rules and agreements “to defend the security of its borders and its own citizens.”
