Tajani: Italy remains a key player in NATO
Brussels, March 16 (Hibya) - Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels to discuss tensions in the Middle East, support for Ukraine, and security cooperation on the alliance’s southern flank.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte as part of his visit to Brussels.
Stating that the focus of the meeting was diplomatic solutions, Tajani said, “I held a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the need to strengthen diplomatic initiatives and prevent the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. Italy continues to be a key player in NATO, including through its support for Ukraine.”
Referring to Italy’s strategic vision within the alliance, Minister Tajani said, “We aim to play a leading role in strengthening the European pillar of the Atlantic Alliance.”
Tajani added, “In this international context, I emphasized the importance of strengthening the Alliance’s southern flank and security cooperation with the Gulf countries, with whom we expressed solidarity in the face of Iran’s unjust attacks.”
