Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha commented on his conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, highlighting Türkiye's role in the Black Sea and thanking the country for its support.

Speaking about the beginning of the conversation and the issues discussed, Sybiha said: "Following Hakan Fidan's successful visit to Kyiv and the ratification of the Ukraine–Türkiye Free Trade Agreement, I spoke with him. I informed my Turkish counterpart about Russia's escalating terrorist attacks against civilian vessels in the Black Sea."

Emphasizing Türkiye's role in the region, Sybiha stated: "Considering that Türkiye is the strongest Black Sea power with a successful record of peace efforts since 2022, Ankara can play a crucial role in restoring freedom of navigation."

Pointing to the risks to global food security, Sybiha said: "This is particularly important in light of the unacceptable risks to global food security caused by Russia's attacks on Ukraine's maritime corridor, especially during the peak harvest season. We discussed ways to restore freedom of navigation and ensure global food security."

Sybiha concluded: "I once again thanked Türkiye for its unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity."
