According to China Central Television (CCTV), steel contracts on the Shanghai Futures Exchange ended Thursday's session lower.

The most actively traded January 2027 rebar contract closed the day at 3,122 yuan per ton (approximately $465.53), down 0.13 percent from the previous close.

The January 2027 hot-rolled coil contract fell 0.12 percent to 3,317 yuan per ton (approximately $494.60).

Rebar is mainly used in buildings, bridges and infrastructure projects, while hot-rolled coil is widely used in manufacturing, including the production of automobiles, household appliances, machinery and pipes.

Both contracts are among the world's most actively traded steel futures contracts and are used as important price benchmarks in Chinese and global steel markets.
