Spajic: Montenegro will build an incineration plant to generate energy from waste
Podgorica, January 9 (Hibya) – Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic announced that the problem of urban waste will be resolved in an environmentally friendly way through the construction of a modern Technical Waste Facility in Podgorica.
Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic shared details of the new facility project to be implemented within the framework of the country’s energy and environmental policies.
Referring to the project’s technical capacity and objectives, Spajic said: “Montenegro will soon build its first incineration plant, which will enable the production of up to 50 MW of renewable energy from waste and will ecologically solve the problem of urban waste management in line with EU directives.”
Providing information on the location and operation of the facility, Spajic added: “In Podgorica, through a public–private partnership, we will build the most modern Technical Waste Facility (incineration plant), which will solve one of the capital’s major problems and also serve as a backup option for other municipalities in the event that harmful particulate concentration levels are exceeded.”
Emphasizing international interest in the project, Spajic concluded: “Among the companies interested in this project is the Japanese giant Itochu, which has extensive experience and a strong track record in implementing such projects.”
