Sharif held a phone call with German Chancellor Merz
Islamabad, April 9 (Hibya) - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction during his phone call with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz over the support given to Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for regional peace.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a statement regarding his conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the peace process in the Middle East.
Referring to the content of the call and Pakistan’s mediation role, Sharif said, "I expressed my appreciation for Germany’s support and endorsement of Pakistan’s sincere diplomatic efforts to secure the Iran-U.S. ceasefire and pave the way for peace talks in Islamabad."
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining the ceasefire for the success of the negotiation process, Sharif said, "We agreed on the critical importance of sustaining the ceasefire so that negotiations can achieve meaningful and lasting outcomes."
Sharif also drew attention to the humanitarian situation in Lebanon and hopes for regional peace, saying, "We also shared our deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Lebanon and expressed hope that peace would return to the entire region as soon as possible."
