Second phase of Trump’s Gaza plan launched
Washington, January 14 (Hibya) — US President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, announced that the second phase of the plan to end the Gaza conflict has been launched.
US President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Witkoff, announced the launch of the second phase of Trump’s 20-point plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict.
Stating that this phase includes a transition from a ceasefire to disarmament, technocratic governance and reconstruction, Witkoff said: “The second phase establishes a temporary technocratic Palestinian administration in Gaza — the Gaza National Administration Committee (NCAG) — and begins the complete demilitarization and reconstruction of Gaza, particularly the disarmament of all unauthorized personnel.”
Witkoff emphasized that the United States expects Hamas to fully meet its obligations, including the immediate return of the last deceased hostage, warning that failure to do so would have serious consequences.
“More importantly, Phase One delivered historic humanitarian aid, preserved the ceasefire, and returned all surviving hostages as well as the remains of 27 of the 28 deceased hostages. We extend our deep gratitude to Egypt, Türkiye and Qatar for their indispensable mediation efforts that made all progress achieved to date possible,” Witkoff added.
