Prime Minister Schoof of the Netherlands stated that the EU has a great economic power and significantly untapped economic potential.

He pointed out that their single market has made them an important player in the global economy, but they are still missing out on growth opportunities. "That is why today, at the informal European Council in Alden Biesen, we will discuss how we can seize these opportunities," he said.

In this context, Schoof explained that they will address strengthening their single market by reducing and simplifying regulations and investing in innovation, with a particular focus on sustainability and digital transformations.

Schoof also added, "We also need to increase our economic resilience and reduce our dependence on other countries."
