Putin and Sharaa hold phone call
Moscow, August 26 (Hibya) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa discussed the current state of Russia-Syria relations and steps toward further developing them.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa held a phone call on August 26.
The current state of Russia-Syria relations and prospects for their future development were discussed during the call. The leaders expressed their readiness to deepen political dialogue and expand cooperation in trade, economy, humanitarian assistance and other areas.
Exchanging views on the situation surrounding Syria, Putin reiterated Russia’s support for Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty. Putin also emphasized the importance of creating appropriate conditions for long-term normalization and post-conflict reconstruction.
The importance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on August 9, which provides for the reorganization of the Hmeimim Air Base and the Tartus logistics support facility, was also emphasized during the call.
Putin and Sharaa agreed to continue contacts at various levels.
