In the United Kingdom, the FTSE 100 index rose 0.25 percent to 10,679.03 points, while Italy's FTSE MIB index gained 0.75 percent to reach 52,818.85 points.
The pan-European STOXX Europe 600 index was trading at 652.77 points, while Germany's DAX stood at 25,779.31 points and France's CAC 40 index was at 8,508.07 points.
