Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic made a statement regarding the annual conference attended by Croatia’s ambassadors, consuls general, consuls and military attachés.

Plenkovic said they are working to strengthen Croatia’s global position, support foreign policy priorities and improve the work of diplomatic missions in protecting national interests.

Noting that Croatia is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU), Plenkovic said the country has been part of the Schengen Area and the euro area since 2023 and is in the process of joining the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Plenkovic said priority issues include strengthening energy security, improving Croatia’s position on Europe’s energy map, increasing defense capabilities, continuing support for Ukraine, addressing climate issues and preserving transatlantic relations.

Plenkovic also stressed the importance of European Union enlargement, saying that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path in particular should be supported and that the country’s three constituent peoples should have equal rights.

Plenkovic said Croatia will remain committed to multilateralism and the rules-based international order, adding that the diplomatic network will continue to protect the country’s interests and promote Croatia around the world.
