Palestine strongly condemns violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque
Jerusalem, April 12 (Hibya) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the actions of far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and settlers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling for urgent international intervention.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the violations carried out by Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, along with settler groups under the protection of occupation forces, at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The ministry stated that violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem are increasing, restrictions on worshippers continue, and freedom of worship is being systematically suppressed. It also noted that strict measures are being imposed on Palestinians in the Old City and that their historical and legal rights are being targeted.
The ministry rejected all Israeli attempts to alter the historical and legal status of Jerusalem, stating that related laws and measures violate international law. Referring to the opinions of the International Court of Justice, it said these steps are “null and void.”
It emphasized that Al-Aqsa Mosque, covering 144 dunams, is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims, warning that ongoing violations could threaten regional and international security.
The statement held Israel fully responsible for the violations and called for preventing settler groups and halting raids on holy sites, as well as lifting all restrictions on access to places of worship.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community, especially UNESCO, to take decisive steps to compel Israel to stop the violations, ensure freedom of worship, and enforce international law.
