Islamabad, July 12 (Hibya) - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a condolence message following the passing of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Sharif said he was deeply saddened to learn of the former Emir's passing, noting that Sheikh Hamad's visionary leadership had transformed Qatar into a modern, prosperous and internationally respected nation.
Sharif emphasized that the late Emir's contributions to his country's development, as well as his efforts to promote regional peace, economic development and international cooperation, would be remembered by future generations, adding that he had left a lasting legacy as a distinguished statesman.
On behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, Sharif extended his condolences to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Al Thani family, the Qatari government and the people of Qatar, stressing that Pakistan stands in full solidarity with Qatar during this difficult time.
Sharif also said Sheikh Hamad's close affection for Pakistan and his commitment to strengthening the friendship between the two countries would always be remembered, noting that the former Emir's visits to Pakistan held a special place in bilateral relations.
Prime Minister Sharif concluded his message by praying for mercy upon the late Emir and for patience and strength for his family and the people of Qatar.
