Islamabad, August 20 (Hibya) - The 7th meeting aimed at strengthening trade and economic engagement with friendly countries was held under the chairmanship of Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The meeting particularly discussed developing trade and economic relations with the European Union (EU), improving Pakistan's export performance and expanding the country's access to international markets.
According to a statement from Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting assessed steps that could be taken to accelerate trade and economic partnerships with friendly countries. Improving market access, boosting export performance and strengthening coordination among relevant institutions were among the main issues discussed.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted the importance of Pakistan effectively complying with its commitments and agreements under the GSP+ framework.
Dar said improving Pakistan's trade and export performance should be prioritized and instructed all relevant stakeholders to implement the agreed measures in a timely manner.
Through these efforts, the Pakistani government aims to expand the country's access to foreign markets, increase its export capacity and maximize opportunities arising from economic relations with friendly countries, particularly the EU.
The meeting also discussed the need to establish stronger coordination among relevant institutions at the federal and provincial levels to enable Pakistan to achieve its trade and export targets.
Ishaq Dar instructed the relevant institutions to prioritize improving Pakistan's trade and export performance, implement the agreed measures on time and strengthen coordination to maximize market access and economic opportunities.
The meeting was attended by Pakistan's Commerce Minister, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, the federal secretaries for commerce and interior, Pakistan's ambassador in Brussels, the CDA chairman, and numerous senior federal and provincial officials from relevant ministries and departments.
