Netanyahu: The memory of our fallen is a bridge between generations
Jerusalem, April 21 (Hibya) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu marked Memorial Day by honoring fallen soldier Shon Carmeli, saying that “the memory of the fallen is a shared heritage of the nation.”
In a statement issued for Israel’s Memorial Day, Netanyahu commemorated fallen soldiers and delivered an emotional message through traditional religious rituals.
Netanyahu noted that he prayed in memory of Shon Carmeli, a soldier who came from the United States to Israel, joined the army, and lost his life in Gaza.
He said: “Each year, the memory of a different hero… Each one a world, each one a life.”
Netanyahu emphasized that Carmeli came to Israel voluntarily and fought with “deep faith and a strong sense of duty,” adding that his memory lives on.
The Prime Minister also referred to a religious ritual during the commemoration, highlighting the connection between generations: “I feel a strong bond between a tradition thousands of years old and the heroism of today.”
He concluded his message by saying: “The memory of our fallen will be preserved in our hearts forever.”
