Netanyahu: I instructed a powerful operation against Hezbollah
Jerusalem, June 19 (Hibya) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he had instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to carry out a strong operation against Hezbollah following an attack in southern Lebanon that killed the commander of the 52nd Armored Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon, and three other soldiers.
Referring to the escalating military tensions in the region following Hezbollah's tank attack and Israel's subsequent response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that no compromise would be made regarding border security.
Expressing his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and describing the military response to the attack, Netanyahu said: "I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Lieutenant Colonel Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon, commander of the 52nd Armored Battalion, and to the families of the three heroic soldiers whose names have not yet been released. May God avenge their blood, and I wish a speedy recovery to those wounded in yesterday's fighting."
Stating that Hezbollah had violated the ceasefire, Netanyahu said: "Following Hezbollah's criminal attack, which constitutes a clear violation of the ceasefire, I instructed the Israel Defense Forces last night to carry out a powerful strike against Hezbollah."
Drawing attention to the scope of the operations and the messages of determination delivered during the defense assessment meeting, Netanyahu concluded:
"This morning I conducted a situation assessment with the Defense Minister and the Chief of Staff. My instructions are clear: Israel will not tolerate attacks against our soldiers or our territory, and Hezbollah will pay a very heavy price for these attacks."
