Meloni: We are saddened by the loss of Sandro Mazzola
Rome, September 19 (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni issued a message of condolence following the death of Sandro Mazzola, one of the legendary figures of Italian football.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a statement following Sandro Mazzola’s death that Mazzola was one of the important figures in the history of Italian football.
Meloni said: “With the passing of Sandro Mazzola, we lose a great champion and one of the most beloved figures in the history of Italian football.”
Noting that Mazzola was one of the legendary figures of the Italy national team that won the 1968 European Championship and of Inter, Meloni said: “For generations, he brought joy to Italians and connected them passionately to football, leaving an indelible mark on our nation.”
Meloni said Mazzola’s sporting legacy adds to that of his father, Valentino Mazzola, captain of Grande Torino, and offered her condolences to his family, loved ones and fans.
