French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as part of his diplomatic contacts with regional leaders.

Commenting on the conversation, Macron said: “As part of my discussions with regional leaders, I spoke with President Ilham Aliyev and expressed our support and solidarity following Iran’s attacks targeting his country.”

Referring to Azerbaijan’s role in evacuation processes, Macron said: “I also thanked him for Azerbaijan’s assistance in facilitating the evacuation of our citizens.”

Macron concluded his statement by saying: “On this occasion, I wanted to reiterate our support for the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and our desire to continue our bilateral dialogue with Baku on a stronger foundation.”
